It was an old 90' long WWII PT boat built in 1945. The vessel was purchased by T.G. Daniel of Shelby, NC who converted it to a charter fishing boat. Engines were fired up and the ship steamed to Beaufort. There, the crew loaded coal and waited out the storm, they eventually resumed station by the 13th.
